Experience as an employee in a position generally associated with the hospitality industry.
Eight hundred hours of field experience are required as part of the requirements for a degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management. It is expected that the second four-hundred-hour segment will generally involve some higher-level or supervision duties. Completion of a journal in a prescribed format will be required. Students receive one credit upon completion of this requirement. Guidelines for the HRTM Field Experience are available from the HRTM Field Experience Coordinator, Ms. Kim Emery.

Requirements may also include various personal journals, abstracts of academic journal articles, and/or term papers. Instructions, guidelines, and applications for an HRTM internship are available in the School of Business and Economics Internship Office in Redcay Hall. Students should also consult the HRTM Field Experience and Internship Coordinator, Dr. Kwangseek Choe.
A student may use up to three credit hours of Internship to meet requirements for HRTM elective courses. Hours spent on an appropriate HRTM internship may also be counted towards hours required for Field Experience.
